1,428 Dolphins Were Slaughtered As Part Of A Tradition. Activists Say It's Cruel

In this image released by Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, the carcasses of dead white-sided dolphins lay on a beach Sunday after being pulled from the water on the island of Eysturoy, which is part of the Faeroe Islands.

Each year, people in the North Atlantic's Faeroe Islands drive herds of sea mammals into shallow waters, where they are stabbed to death. It's part of a four-century-old tradition.
