Thousands Are Evacuated As Fires Rampage Through Forests In Greece

Smoke spreads over Parnitha mountain during a wildfire in Ippokratios Politia village, about 21 miles north of Athens, Greece on Friday. Thousands of people fled wildfires burning out of control in Greece and Turkey on Friday, including a major blaze just north of the Greek capital of Athens.

Thousands of residents and vacationers have fled by land and by sea as firefighters and volunteers battled through the night. It comes during the country's worst heat wave in three decades.
