The Attacks Outside Kabul Airport Pushes The U.S. Exit Into Deeper Disarray

Smoke rises from a deadly explosion outside the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021. Two suicide bombers targeted crowds massing near the Kabul airport, in the waning days of a massive airlift that has drawn thousands of people seeking to flee the Taliban takeover.

Thursday's terrorist attack left at least 13 U.S. service members and at least 60 Afghan civilians dead. It came less than a week before an Aug. 31 deadline to withdraw U.S. forces from the country.
