As China Cracks Down, Hong Kong Residents In The U.S. Have Been Given Temporary Haven

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) emblem on a page of the HKSAR passport arranged in Hong Kong, China, earlier this year. The Biden administration says it will allow Hong Kong residents to remain and work in the U.S. for at least 18 months without fear of deportation.

In announcing the move, the White House cited "strong support for people in Hong Kong in the face of ongoing repression by the People's Republic of China."
