Food delivery: which grocery and meal delivery services have slots right now?

As England moves through its second coronavirus lockdown of the year, the population is going to rely even more on getting important groceries and supplies delivered to their homes.

At the moment, after taking a look through delivery slots and options available from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Asda, Iceland and more, we've found that some stores are beginning to fill up through the month.

As it stands, Tesco home delivery has excellent availability for the coming few weeks right through to the end of the month. Morrisons, on the other hand, has no available slots for the next three days, while Iceland in London has free slots popping up through the month. We can probably expect to see more shops having greater availability compared to the first lockdown simply because of how bad things were the first time around.

Supermarkets will continue to offer priority delivery slots to elderly and vulnerable customers. Supermarkets are using customer and government data to prioritise food delivery slots for those who need it most. Make sure you've signed up to the government's database of clinically vulnerable people if you need support. Sainsbury's, for instance, has a special service which you can see here.

Earlier this year, both Morrisons and Asda launched a food box service to help cope with demand caused by the first lockdown, and this will continue as we enter the second. Morrisons food boxes offer a great range of options, while Asda's food box is best if you need to fill your cupboards with household essentials.

Grocery delivery

Just like the first lockdown, we've signed up to all the major supermarkets and we're assessing the situation daily across the country, in London, Leeds, Portsmouth, Manchester and Bath. Your area may differ and indeed your shops may also differ, but there's plenty of reason to believe that availability on delivering groceries should be much easier than it was earlier in the year.

Importantly, for all of the below supermarkets, you will need an account which we recommend you do as soon as you can as doing so will allow you to see your own local availability for deliveries.

Amazon Fresh food delivery: Delivery is included in your Prime membership for orders above £40
Amazon Fresh is included with Amazon Prime, allowing customers to get fresh groceries delivered on the same day as ordering at a low-price. (If you don't have Prime, you can sign up for a free trial and cancel before the trial ends with no strings attached.) In the UK, a service which was live earlier this year called Amazon Pantry is no longer available as of June 30.

Tesco food delivery:  excellent availability for delivery and collection.

If you're a Tesco shopper, you have a lot of options for delivery. Portsmouth, London, Manchester, Leeds and Bath have some slots available. You can even get yourself a delivery as early as November 12. With that in mind, Click and Collect slots are healthy throughout the month. Minimum spend is £40 (or a £4 charge for under £40) for delivery. Click and Collect has a minimum spend of £25 (or £4 charge for under £25). Look for a delivery slot at Tesco

Morrisons food delivery:  delivery available until November 17

Asda food delivery: some availability this week, but scarce for now

Asda is showing delivery options well into December at this point, most of which are available nationwide. You're far better off opting for Click & Collect, which is showing plenty of free slots throughout the month. Book an Asda delivery now

Ocado is appearing the same as Morrisons in that it shows the next three days from right now. There are no delivery slots available all the way up to Thursday, November 12 and beyond. Sainsbury's food delivery: home delivery and click & collect slots available

Sainsbury's only has a few slots for the coming week, with extremely limited slots in the next few days. The earliest delivery you can get is on November 15, but next week is showing more slots. It has a healthy amount of Click & Collect options which we would encourage you to use. As always, this will depend on your local store. Look for a delivery slot at Sainsbury's

Waitrose food delivery: some slots available each day

Waitrose has a smattering of available slots depending on your location. In general, there's limited availability up until Wednesday 18 November.
